Rating and Certification Systems

Two main rating and certification systems now provide third-party verification that a building or community was design and built using acceptable “green” practices. The LLEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Rating Systems developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has become internationally recognized for both commercial and residential construction, while the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Green Building Standard has emerged as the leading rating system in the residential market.
